Introduction, objective & purpose

Fieldtrip 2 (SG1002)

8/3/98 - 15/3/98 - 8 days trip to the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia (PM); from UKM, Bangi - Kuala Lipis - Gua Musang - Kota Bahru - Kuala Terengganu - Kuantan - Temerloh.
Observation in the field consists of outcrops along main roads, beaches, quarries, mines, dam & limestone caves. Rocks observed consists of sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous in nature; covering the aspect of geomorphology, mineralization, fossil, structural geology & engineering geology.

Fieldtrip 3 (SG 2002)
10/10/98 - 17/10/98 - 8 days trip to the West Coast and Northern states of Peninsular Malaysia. Outcrops observed are mainly consists of rocks aged from Cambrian to Triassic. Its aspects of stratigraphy are one of the 'best' and most 'complete' for Paleozoic & Early Mesozoic rocks that can be found in the Peninsula.
The purpose of this trip is to expose and explore the concepts of pure geology i.e. lithostratigraphy, sedimentology & depositional environment studies, structural geology, rock metamorphism, igneous rock intrusions & geomorphological observations in the field, towards various aspects such as lithology (rock type/identification), fossil, sedimentary structures, tectonic and morphology.
